Say Bye-bye to Frizzy Bed Hair | Tutorial

Remember that morning when you woke up late for a date or a meeting but your hair just decides to have a horrendous bed hair day?

I have teamed up with Casper, a New York based startup mattress company, to bring to you tips and ways you can prevent and tame the unwanted bed hair. Casper offers mattresses that are designed and made in the US. They use latex and memory foam material for all their mattresses to make sure going to bed is what you look forward to at the end of the day! Although a good sleep can give you glowing skin, but let’s be honest, even the most amazing bed can cause you to wake up to a bad bed hair.

First, let me give you some secret tips on preventing bed hair.

1. Sleep with fully dried hair.
If you have naturally frizzy hair, the best thing is to blow dry your hair in the direction the hair grows. Letting the hair to be air-dried can cause the hair cuticle to go outwards which creates frizz.

2. Put a silk scarf on your pillow.
Now, this was a tip given to me by my mom. It’s her secret to shiny hair! Silk is so smooth it can prevent your hair from rubbing the pillow (causing frizz) and from tangling.

3. Tie your hair up (in a bun or braid).
This doesn’t work for everyone, but often works with people with thick hair. You can even take advantage of this opportunity to create beach waves or natural waves by braiding it or tying it in a bun.

However, if you still wake up with a stubborn bed hair, you need to continue reading. These tricks are my favorite when I need to look good while not spending hours trying to straighten my hair.

1. Un-frizz It

Here are some products I enjoyed using for detangling and un-frizzing. They are easy to use and you don’t even have to go out of the way to make your hair beautiful as they are most likely just a part of your regular hair care routine.

This overnight repair moisturizer by KEUNE is hands down the best hair care product I’ve used for its price. My have always been proud for my healthy looking hair even after bleaching it. My secret? Is this bottle. And the best thing is that a little goes a long way. I usually pump out about a dime size drop and work the product upwards from the tip of my hair. I also prefer using this when my hair is still damp so I can work the product through my hair more evenly. (Imagine clumps getting stuck in one spot if you have fully dried hair.) This product is AMAZING because it adds such a beautiful shine without weighing the hair down. (As long as you are careful with how much you put in your hair) Unfortunately, this product does not have its own store. The best bet is to go around salons and asking for them. I was lucky enough to have this recommended to me by a stylist!

living-proof-no-frizz-shampoo
This no frizz shampoo by Living Proof is a no brainer. Their products are always amazing, and all you need to do is to wash your hair like you normally would! I would personally use this product in the morning when I shower rather than at night just so you can end the frizziness entirely. You can find this product easily at Sephora, Nordstrom or other professional hair salons. If your hair isn’t too frizzy and you are just looking for something that would make your hair look even healthier, try their no frizz leave-in conditioner instead.

moroccanoil-frizz-control
Moroccanoil Hair has been a very popular product for hair care. Their products are the priciest on this list, but if you’ve tried it, you know it works. I personally like the smell of this product and would definitely buy this again, but I would also say that there are other comparable products for a much cheaper price. This is the Frizz Control leave in conditioner claims to “fight frizz and control static in any weather”. Use this after shower on towel-dried hair and style as usual.

3. Style with a Blow

If you have a little more extra time, you can spritz your hair with some water (until slightly damp), then style it with a hair dryer and a big roller comb. I recently watched a really great tutorial by ellebangs on how to get a voluminous blowout. A blow out will help your cuticle to stay in place and gives a beautiful shine to your hair.

3. Up-Do Style

I find that many girls think letting your hair down is always the best. But NO! Up-dos can make you look so effortlessly trendy. Whether it’s tying it in a high ponytail or casual (but sexy) messy bun, you can still look chic and put together. Here are some Pinterest Inspirations for taming frizzy hair.
